An Australia Vacation For The Whole Family

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

Australia is a country that offers many exciting and enriching experiences. The most difficult thing you will face when planning an Australia vacation is which places to include in your itinerary. When you are traveling with kids, it becomes especially hard to plan your Australia travel. It would be impossible for you to make time for every attraction in this beautiful country, so it is a good idea to map out your travel plans to ensure that both you and your family have an extraordinary time.

Western Australia is one of the best places to take your family, whether you are traveling with young children or your kids on break from college. There are many attractions and Australia tours in this area, most notably the Perth Zoo. This is arguably one of the most captivating zoos in the world and is home to nearly 1300 native and exotic animals. A visit to the Perth Zoo may include anything from a tour of their famous breeding programs for critically endangered species to a walk through a botanical paradise. This paradise is home to some of the most beautiful plant life and has the most exquisite grassy areas to stop and enjoy a relaxing picnic with your family. Another must see place while in Western Australia that everyone will enjoy, is the Maritime Museum. Not only is this one of the most educational museums you might visit on your Australia vacation, it also overlooks the beautiful, majestic Indian Ocean. The museum consists of six unique galleries and each one is centered on a different aspect of Australias relationship with the sea. Some things you will come across throughout your visit are: homemade vessels, handcrafted sailing boats and leisure boats. The history behind this extraordinary place is sure to keep you interested while your little ones climb on board the different boats and learn what makes this Australia vacation so special.

The Writing Journey: Transforming Lives

Friday, February 29th, 2008

When I was growing up, my parents took an annual two-week camping trip that took us to many places in the U.S. and Canada. They’d pack the car with all the equipment, clothes, and food for them and their brood of five kids. Eventually the family grew to seven (plus the occasional friend who came along). As you can imagine, there were plenty of adventures and memories to fill a book! In fact, on many occasions Mom would say, “Someday I’m going to write a book about these trips!” For some reason, the book never made it to paper. While the list is long for several reasons (for starters, seven kids!), my guess is it was because she was never completely clear about what form the writing would take. Would it be a travel guide, a comedy, or a how-to or how-not-to book? Could it be all of those? Erma Bombeck was a popular writer during those times. Could my Mom stand up to that example of using real-life stories to humor readers? Oh, the pressure. And so, the book remained in her mind and unwritten.

The writing process is different for everyone, but sometimes the potential writer never starts because they don’t know where to start or where to take the subject if they do have a start. Sometimes, they feel like they’re standing at a crossroads, with signs pointed in dozens of directions with varying distances for each one. They are frozen with indecision about what step they should take first. If indecision isn’t the problem, fear rears its ugly head and stops the writing dead in its tracks.
