The Major Tourist Destinations In Africa – Uganda and Kenya
Africa has some of the most beautiful sceneries, created by a blend of wildlife and vegetation ranging from the dry and desert regions of the sahara in the north, through savanah grasslands in the semi arid regions that stretch from east Africa to the west coast and the tropical regions with lush green vegetation and tropical rain forest in central Africa to the South of Africa.
The most bio diverse region of all is the rift valley region of the Albertine. Stretching from the northern end of Lake Albert to the southern end of Lake Tanganyika, the Albertine region straddles the countries of Uganda, Congo, Rwanda and Tanzania. This region has made Uganda one of the hottest tourist destinations in Africa despite being a landlocked country. Some of the greatest attractions that these three countries share are the mountain gorillas, offering mountain gorilla safaris. These great apes numbering about 750 in the world are a great tourist attraction and have feature on many a discovery channel documentaries. Gorilla tracking is one of Uganda and Rwanda’s most profitable tourism attractions and is one of the main Uganda safari request made by those wanting to visit this small country once aptly described by Sir Winston Churchill as the “pearl of Africa”.
To the west is the western arm of the rift valley, stretching through Kenya from Tanzania. This region has great conservation areas with great wildlife attractions, the great wildebeest migration being one of the most attractive wildlife sights of all as they make their annual migrations through the Serengeti and Masai Mara facing great threats and peril through wilderness. Kenya has one of the world’s best parks in the shape of Masai Mara, Aberdares, Amboseli etc.
Together, these two countries offer some of the most attractive wildlife attractions in the world boasting a great number of bird, plant and animal species unlike any other region.
